He returned to Santa Clarita to raise a family with his wife Ingrid, a local teacher. For 10 years, he has served the community as the executive director of a Santa Clarita non-profit corporation. In 2006, he was appointed to the city council to serve 16 months. TimBen pledged not to run in 2008 to eliminate an "incumbent´s advantage". A man of honor, TimBen kept his word. While serving, TimBen realized how much good he could accomplish through careful study and hard questioning, and how quickly the quality of life here in the SCV could deteriorate into a mess of grid locked traffic, higher crime rates and insufficient infrastructure without diligent and independent minded leadership.
